I’ve always been very proud to say that I am a “true” Bay Area native. I was born in Oakland, have lived here all 39 years of my life and don’t see myself moving away anytime soon, if ever! I know my hometown like the back of my hand and have worked and played in San Francisco as often as possible over the years.
About Laura MoirAfter having my 2nd child in 2006, I was overweight and unhappy with my squishy post-baby body, so I decided it was time to start getting back in shape and started running. While running was certainly challenging at first, I didn't give up, and kept pushing myself to get stronger and faster. I started racing in 2009 and haven’t stopped since. I've run over 60 races to date, including 16 half marathons and 2 marathons. I run for so many different reasons and am always challenging myself to push harder and run farther- my only competition is myself. The San Francisco Marathon will be my 4th marathon and as a Bay Area native, I am very excited to train for and complete 26.2 happy miles through this magnificent city I call home.
