LA/SF CHALLENGE : Medal Earned

Approximately 24,000 runners took to the course on Sunday March 17, 2013 at the Asics LA Marathon. For many of the runners out there this was either the second part to completing the LA/SF Challenge or part one with the hopes of getting their medal at The Wipro San Francisco Marathon on June 16. For most of the SFM Ambassador Team this weekend was part two of the challenge after completing either the marathon or one of the half marathons back in July of 2012.

This was my first time running the Asics LA Marathon. From the beginning the energy was fantastic as we started at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles before finishing on the coast in Santa Monica. With the various ups, downs, flats and rolling portions that the course had to offer the route took runners through various sightseeing spots of the LA area. The weather for the day provided runners with ideal conditions to enjoy the route, as most of the week many runners feared having to run in 80-degree weather, which was predicted to hit toward the end of the race. Starting at the famous Dodger Stadium, runners were treated to running on Hollywood Blvd, on the famous Sunset Blvd, making our way into Beverly Hills, through the VA and finally with the downhill portion leading us to the finish in Santa Monica.

Running both the Asics LA Marathon and The Wipro San Francisco Marathon, it is a great experience to run both events running areas that you would otherwise have to run. With only 90 days before The Wipro San Francisco Marathon, I am excited to once again start at the Fairy Building, running along the Embarcadero, over the Golden Gate Bridge, up the Presidio, through Golden Gate Park, onto Haight Street, before passing by AT&T Park (the home of the SF Giants).

Great job to all of you that made it out to the Asics LA Marathon this past weekend and earned your LA/SF Challenge medal! For those of you that will be finishing the challenge this June in San Francisco, I look forward to meeting you there.
