Back by popular demand, The San Francisco Marathon will offer the Worth the Hurt 52.4 Mile Run (Double Marathon!) again this year. Athletes are challenged to take on the incredible feat of running 2 marathons, back to back, to benefit their favorite SF Marathon Official Charity.
The double marathon begins at midnight on June 16th, running the first marathon in reverse before running the Official San Francisco Marathon at 5:30am. All participants are required to raise funds for an Official SF Marathon Charity Team and must register through the charity team’s page. For information about which charities have entries available, please see below.
Note: This event is limited to 60 runners, so do not delay in signing up!
52.4 Mile Run Participants Receive:
- Registration fees include an entry into The San Francisco Marathon
- Official Race Technical Shirt and Worth The Hurt Tech Shirt
- Worth The Hurt Blinky Light
- Official Finishers will receive an SF Marathon medal and Worth The Hurt medal
- Finish Line food, water, and electrolyte
- Course support on both marathon loops
- Electronic Finisher’s Certificate
Committed2Community: Raises money for local non-profit organizations, schools and community groups. Funds raised for C2C are donated to SF Recreation & Parks Department and to volunteer organizations that donate their time to help make The SF Marathon a well organized and enjoyable event for the runners. Fundraising minimum is $750 to join C2C’s team. C2C team members must pay $200 when registering, and will be reimbursed this amount 30 days after the race. Challenged Athletes Foundation: Empowering athletes with disabilities to participate in sports and fitness. Led by Team Captain Meredith Dolhare, Charlie Engle and wheelchair athlete Andre Kajlich, this team will inspire and endure. Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation: lend your lung power and join Team Breathe. When you join Team Breathe you’ll help LCF raise funds to change lung cancer from a terminal diagnosis to a manageable chronic disease. Fundraising minimum is $750 to join Team Breathe (1 spot available). Team Breathe members will receive a customized dry fit LCF shirt for race day.
