Daniela Vasquez

I started running in 2009 after being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis; I took charge of my health and started practicing yoga regularly.  My yoga teacher (and mentor) suggested I ran a 10K with her, and so she trained me and I ran! After crossing the finish line I was officially hooked!. I kept training on my own and ran my first half marathon (The SF Marathon, 1st half) and I’ve never looked back. I trained for my first marathon the following year with Team In Training, and also received my certification as a Yoga Teacher! Since then I’ve run 3 marathons and many miles in between. I run because I can, and because it helps me stay positive in life. Setting a goal like a marathon its fun because it keeps me focused.   I currently teach yoga classes for runners/athletes and continue to train with Team In Training to fundraise for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

One of my favorite quotes and sometimes mantra is:
It is very difficult to train for a marathon; but it is even more difficult to not be able to train for a marathon.”
