Monika Carlson

I made the move from 5Ks and 10Ks to a Half Marathon back in 2005 as a way to quit smoking. After finishing my first half I quickly set my eyes on a full, and I haven’t stopped running since. Over the past 7 years I’ve raced a lot (16 fulls & 17 halfs), I’ve become a healthier person, I’ve learned a lot about myself, I’ve made a lot of new running friends, and I’ve been fortunate to be able to help others achieve their own long distance running goals. I’m also very involved with the San Diego chapter of Girls on the Run and volunteer as a Head Coach and Marketing Chair on the Board. Through Girls on the Run I’ve been able to see the passion and excitement for running that can be instilled in girls at a very young age. Helping these girls establish healthy habits and behaviors has become my new passion, and most of my non-work and non-training time is dedicated to furthering the growth of this program in the greater San Diego area.
