I began running in college in off season as a college basketball player. I ran to lose that “Freshmen 15″ as they call it! The weight loss benefits of running actually to this day still motivates me…. but in addition to that I have realized the health benefits of running, being stronger at all sports because of the core workout and fitness that running enhances more than anything else. The last thing about running that really motivates me is winning — winning my age group or looking at my results and how I compare — shooting for a PR really pushes me to run faster and stronger. As a recent cancer survivor to be an inspiration to others to push themselves and keep running despite adversity and challenge. It is that which makes us stronger.
