Susan Pass

I started running in junior high because my older brother was a runner and I wanted to be just like him! I wasn’t any good, but I always got cut from the other teams I tried out for (basketball, softball, volleyball), so I stayed with running. My freshman year of high school, I almost quit because it hurt so much! Luckily I stuck it out and eventually grew to love it and got faster. In college, one of my high school runner friends ran her first marathon, and I thought to myself that I could do that too, so I signed up! I knew nothing about marathons and spent hours pouring over training plans and the Runner’s World forums to learn about pacing and fueling and anything I could get my hands on. The Marine Corps Marathon in 2006 was my first marathon and I got bit hard by the marathon bug. I love training and working toward new goals, and I’ve developed a huge support system through running and blogging that keeps me motivated and keeps me connected with the running community.
