How to Set Up Your Team

  1. Register yourself for one of The San Francisco Marathon events (if you are the Team Captain – the Team Captain must register first and then setup the team).
  2. Once you are registered for one of the races, then you can create your team.
  3. Your team will be assigned a team number – pass your team number and/or your team name on to your colleagues, friends, and/or family so they can sign up for your team!
  4. As Team Captain you will have the capability to send out emails to all team members – this is a great way to keep the team updated on training and team details.

How to Join an existing Team

  1. If you haven't yet registered for one of The San Francisco Marathon events, you simply join the team during your registration process (it will ask you the team number - if you don't know it you can look it up on the registration form).
  2. If you are already registered for an event, you can still join a team! You first need to create your personal login page (on your personal page you can update your demographic information as well as join a team). To create your login page, go to: https://secure2.merchantcart.net/RunSFM/createlogin.cfm
  3. If you have already created your login page, then you just login to access your page at: https://secure2.merchantcart.net/runsfm/login.cfm
  4. Once in your personal login page you can add yourself to a team. Note that your personal login page also has a fundraising site where you can collect online doantions. If you are a member of a Cause to Run team, any donation you collect will go to that Cause to Run team. However, if you are just a member of any other team, then all donations you collect will automatically go to Youth Run4Fun, the RunSFM youth running non-profit organization.
  5. Questions on the process? Click here to contact us.

NOTE: All runners on the team must be registered for the 2nd Half Marathon. Participants who run the Full or 1st Half Marathon will not score for the team.
Non-competitive teams are encouraged to register for the Full or 1st Half Marathon.

Fun Team Ideas

  1. Fundraise for a Cause: If you have formed a team in any of the divisions, you can still fundraise for  a Cause. Just check out the Cause to Run organizations and then contact us to let us know which organization your team would like to raise money for.
  2. Wear a Team T-Shirt: Create a fun team t-shirt for your team to wear during the race!
  3. Volunteer at a Water Stop: Recruit your friends and family to host a water stop. That way they will be out on the course with you, while also helping other runners! They can create signs to post at the water stop.
  4. Meet up at the Awards Ceremony:  Have your team meet up at the awards ceremony to congratulate each other on finishing the race, and refueling your body after a nice long run!
