The San Francisco Marathon Mile 19 STATS

Neighborhood: Golden Gate Park
Elevation Change: Starts at 291’ and ends at 273’
Stations (water/food/toilet): Water approx. 18.9 miles
Best Spot for Family/Support: Stow Lake Boathouse or along JFK Drive

The 19th mile begins on the shore of Stow Lake and curves down the hill and back onto JFK Dr. This is another open and beautiful part of the course. As runners head East they will see the back side of the de Young Museum, the most famous art musem in San Francisco and the Hamon Observation Tower.

For visitors or those who haven’t yet ventured a visit, we recommend spending a day before or after the marathon at the de Young Art Museum, as well as The California Academy of Sciences, among the largest museums of natural history in the world, housing over 46 million specimens.

After passing the museum and the statue of Irish poet Robert Burns on the runners’ right and Bunny Meadow on the left, they will see the Conservatory of Flowers and the 19 Mile marker.
