Community Manager

We’re seeking a dedicated Community Manager to bolster the Berkeley Half Marathon and San Francisco Marathon’s engagement with our vast and vibrant bay area running community. This pivotal role entails fostering both digital and face-to-face relationships with local businesses, educational institutions, running clubs and influencers that have an interest in our events. We are specifically seeking a candidate who resides in the San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose or general Bay Area.
Contract Duration: 20 weeks, potentially more. Part time contract work.
Rate Range: $20-$25 hr
Hours Per Week: 10-20
Responsibilities:
- Identify and engage with local corporations, schools, and running clubs interested in participating in our events both online and in-person.
- Build and maintain relationships within the social media community related to the races.
- Collaborate with the Berkeley Half Marathon and SF Marathon marketing teams on objectives and initiatives.
- Monitor and provide feedback on engagement/conversation via social media channels to leadership.
- Organize promotional events at local schools and universities.
- Plan and manage training runs and small pop-up events with local entities in Berkeley and San Francisco.
- Distribute posters and promotional materials to interested schools and organizations.
- Publish content in alignment with the brand’s communication style.
- Collaborate with our Social Media Manager to ensure content delivery is timely and on-brand.
Qualifications
- Must live in the San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose or general Bay Area.
- Proven experience in community management, event planning, or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with social media management and content creation.
- Ability to build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate partners, schools, and running clubs.
- Knowledge of the local running community in Berkeley and San Francisco.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Passion for promoting health, fitness, and community engagement.

Job Description:
JFI is seeking a creative, innovative, and skilled Graphic Designer. This remote, project-based role involves key responsibilities such as collaborating with the marketing manager, developing digital graphics for various platforms including email marketing, websites, and social media, and managing the design and uploading process using content management systems like Asana. The ideal candidate must have at least five years of experience with design software such as Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, or Dreamweaver, combined with excellent communication and time-management skills to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with the marketing manager via email, Zoom, and Asana to complete design projects.
- Obtain input from managers to ensure that designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the company or client appropriately.
- Create digital graphics for email marketing, websites, and social media.
- Translate strategic direction into high-quality design using the brand identity documents in place.
- Manage the design and uploading process for all project materials, based on best practices for using a content management system (Asana).
Qualifications:
- Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills.
- Five or more years of experience (academic and professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Desire to continue building skill set with education and training.
