On-course mask requirements. National Park property requires all runners to wear masks. There will be signs indicating the zones. If you run without a mask in these zones you maybe disqualified or may be fined by the National Parks. Half Course mask zones: Miles 5.5-6.5, & Miles 10.5-11.

This year the two half marathons will be combined into one. The new route will be a out and back loop course and will eliminate the need for all runner shuttle buses. We will continue to honor the 1st and 2nd Half Marathons as separate events for results and Challenge & Loyalty programs.

Race route
Beginning and ending your journey in front of the iconic Ferry Building. The sounds of the San Francisco Bay follow you as you make your way through Fisherman’s Wharf to the Golden Gate Bridge. Keep your eye on the prize as the bridge approaches and get your camera ready for amazing pics. Enjoy the spectacular views as your run under the bridge to Fort Point. Returning with a tour of upper Presidio, back along the water Front Marina Green, Fort Mason, Pier 39 finishing where you started.

    1st Half Marathon Details

  • Start time, location and corral details

    The 1st Half starts at 6:45-7:05am @ Embarcadero between Mission and Howard

    Corral Information (subject to change): 6:45 / 6:50 / 6:55/ 7:00 / 7:05 

  • Course Limits
    In order to qualify as an Official 1st Half Marathon Finisher, you must finish within the 3.5 hour course limit.
  • Water/Fuel Stops & Medical Care
    The 1st Half Marathon includes 6 water stops where you can find water, GU electrolytes, medical and toilets. Water Stop 5 includes GU energy chews.

  • Perks & Benefits
    All participants receive a technical fabric long-sleeved shirt. View sizing info here. Finishers receive a finisher’s medal, free photos, electronic finisher’s certificate and individual care, both on and off the course – including food, beverage, heat sheet and medical care.
  • Awards
    Gifts will be issued to the top 3 Men and Women in the 1st Half Marathon. Once official results have been finalized, award plaques are created, personalized and mailed.
  • Scoring
    The top 3 overall Men and Women in the 1st Half Marathon will receive a plaque and winners medal. The top three females and top three males in each age group will be given a personalized plaque. Results will be finalized 4-6 weeks post event and then age group awards will be personalized and mailed. Top 3 overall winners will be removed from age group awards (no double dipping).
  • Divisions
    Open, Masters and Age Groups: 19 and Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
