If you're thinking, wait, already? You're not alone. This year, the race reached capacity faster than ever.
On race day, thousands of runners will line up before sunrise, cross the Golden Gate Bridge, and take on 26.2 miles through one of the most iconic cities in the world.
If you missed out, you still have a path in.
Spots do open up. Plans change, runners defer, and entries become available again. When they do, the wait list is the best way to secure yours.
How it works

Sign up for the wait list.
Your spot is based on when you sign up, so sooner is better.

We review the list regularly.
As spots open up, our team works through the wait list and reaches out directly to runners whose turn has come.

You get a special link.
If a spot is yours to claim, we will email you a one-time access link with 48 hours to register.

You are in.
Register through the link and you are officially part of the 2026 San Francisco Full Marathon.
Frequently asked questions
It depends on how many spots open up and how many people are ahead of you. Spots open up continuously from now through race weekend as runners adjust their plans, so stay subscribed to your email.
No. The wait list is free to join. You only pay if a spot opens up and you decide to register.
When your turn comes, we email you a unique link that unlocks the Full Marathon on Race Roster. You use the link to register at the current price.
48 hours from the time we send it. If you do not use it in time, the link expires.
You will be added to the bottom of the waitlist. We work through the list in order, so each miss means a longer wait.
We only email you when there is something to share, either a confirmation that you are on the list or an access link for an open spot. Add [email protected] to your contacts so nothing ends up in spam.
One sign-up per person. Each person who wants to run needs to join the wait list themselves.
We process the list in the order people sign up, so earlier is better.
Just ignore the access link when it arrives. Your spot will open up for the next person on the list.
