The San Francisco Marathon Invited Athlete Information
The 2011 San Francisco Marathon™ (and Second Half Marathon) invite athletes to inquire about participation in the event. The prize money purse is not yet determined.
The race will distribute complimentary entries based on demonstrated past performance. In addition, limited hotel accommodations are offered. Invited athletes receive a seeded starting line position.
Elite bib placement is limited and these participants will receive placement in the front of the pack at the beginning of the race. In some cases, elite athletes are offered a complimentary registration. The application process for these registrations is explained below and involves a thorough check of past performances.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We do not consider inviting non-U.S. athletes who are required to have a U.S. visa, but do not currently have a U.S. Visa and are not currently residing in, or visiting, the U.S.
Consideration Requirements for Elite Athlete Status
- Complimentary Entry and Accommodations: Sub-2:30 men/Sub-2:50 women or equivalent within the past two years is suggested for consideration.
- Complimentary Entry: Sub-2:40 men/Sub-3:00 women or equivalent within the past two years is suggested for consideration.
- Slower times may be considered on a space-available basis.

Elite status is limited. Please apply as soon as possible, and no later than July 1, 2011. Elite applicants should apply via email. Please do the following:

- Name, age, citizenship, current residence
- Sponsor/club
- All-time PRs
- Best races in last two years (race name, date, finishing place and
time) - Best races all time (with above details)
- Important!
- Marathon Runners:
Include a list of up to 5 marathon race finishing times, including copies of your finisher's certificates, if available. - Half Marathon Runners:
Include a list of up to 5 half marathon or marathon race finishing times, including copies of your finisher's certificates, if available
