The San Francisco Marathon is a loop course. The race starts and finishes on the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building, traversing San Francisco. The Full Marathon runs through Fisherman’s Wharf, the Marina, across the roadbed of the Golden Gate Bridge, through the Presidio and into Golden Gate Park. After a tour of Golden Gate Park, you will run down the famous Haight Street and through the Mission, Potrero and Mission Bay Districts. After a pass behind AT&T Park you are almost home – just run under the Bay Bridge and up to the Finish Line. The course is USATF certified and is a Boston Marathon qualifying race.
The Full Marathon includes 16 water stops where you can find water, electrolyte, medical, and toilets. Two of these stops, water stop 3 and 10, includes GU.
In order to qualify as an Official Full Marathon Finisher, you must finish within the 6 hour course limit.
