Free runner shuttles take runners from the 1st Half Finish Line in Golden Gate Park to the Main Finish Line Festival from 8am – 11am. See below for more information.

Race route
Begin your journey in front of the iconic Ferry Building. The sounds of the San Francisco Bay follow you as you make your way through Fisherman’s Wharf to the Golden Gate Bridge. Keep your eye on the prize as the bridge approaches and get your camera ready for amazing pics. Enjoy the spectacular views as your run under the bridge to Fort Point. Your reward for winding your way through the Presidio is a long fast downhill with a view of the Pacific Ocean beyond the entrance to the Golden Gate Bay. Finish up in Golden Gate Park at the Robins Williams Meadow and reward yourself with a high-five!

Picture yourself racing as the California sun breaks through San Francisco’s iconic maritime fog; dashing from the Embarcadero’s waterfront start line at the break of dawn; running up to the Golden Gate Bridge, through towering eucalyptus and redwood trees in Golden Gate Park where you’ll cross the 1st Half Finish Line at Robin Williams Meadow. Then, join thousands of runners at our Main Finish Line Festival on the Embarcadero, along the waterfront at the Ferry Building downtown.

  • Course Limits
    In order to qualify as an Official 1st Half Marathon Finisher, you must finish within the 3.5 hour course limit.
  • Water/Fuel Stops & Medical Care
    The 1st Half Marathon includes 6 water stops where you can find water, electrolytes, medical and toilets. Water Stop 5 includes GU energy chews.

    FREE Runner Shuttle Busing picks up runners from 8:00AM – 11:00AM from Fulton St. and 10th St. at the 1st Half Marathon Finish Line in Golden Gate park. Runner shuttles drop off runners at the Main Finish Line Festival. Shuttles are for runners only. All you need is your bib to enter.
  • Perks & Benefits
    All participants receive a technical fabric long-sleeved shirt. View sizing info here. Finishers receive a finisher’s medal, free photos, electronic finisher’s certificate and individual care, both on and off the course – including food, beverage, heat sheet and medical care.
  • Awards
    Gifts will be issued to the top 3 Men and Women in the 1st Half Marathon. Once official results have been finalized, award plaques are created, personalized and mailed.
  • Scoring
    The top 3 overall Men and Women in the 1st Half Marathon will receive a plaque and winners medal. The top three females and top three males in each age group will be given a personalized plaque. Results will be finalized 4-6 weeks post event and then age group awards will be personalized and mailed. Top 3 overall winners will be removed from age group awards (no double dipping).

    Open, Masters and Age Groups: 19 and Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
