The San Francisco 1st Half Marathon – Sunday, November 15th, 2020

Race Finish: 1st Half Marathon Finish Line in Golden Gate Park
Free runner shuttles take runners from the 1st Half Finish Line in Golden Gate Park to the Main Finish Line Festival from 8am – 11am. See below for more information.

Race route: Runners race along The Embarcadero, up to the Golden Gate Bridge, to the Coastal Trail along San Francisco Bay, through Golden Gate Park, and more!

Race Distance: 13.1 Miles

Picture yourself racing as the California sun breaks through San Francisco’s iconic maritime fog. Bursting from the Embarcadero’s waterfront start line at the break of dawn. Racing up to the Golden Gate Bridge, through towering eucalyptus and redwood trees in Golden Gate Park where you’ll cross the 1st Half Finish Line. Then join over 27,500 runners at our Main Finish Line Festival.

In our 43rd year, take on our 13.1 miles course and take yourself on a running tour of San Francisco.

    1st Half Marathon Details

  • Corrals & Start Line Map

    Start Location

    Mission Street and The Embarcadero San Francisco, California 94105 at 6:30am.

    On Race Morning, all 1st Half Marathon runners must enter their designated corral from Southbound Embarcadero at the following intersections:

    Elite/Subseed: n/a
    Corrals A, B and C: Howard Street
    Corral D: Folsom Street

    All runners need to be in their corral at the start of the race. 1st Half Start time is 6:30am. Corral start times are as follows (times and locations are subject to change so please follow signs on race morning):

    Elites: 6:30am
    Corrals A & B: 6:33am
    Corrals C & D: 6:40am
    Corrals E & F: 6:50am
    Corrals G & H: 7:00am

  • Course Limits
    In order to qualify as an Official 1st Half Marathon Finisher, you must finish within the 3 hour course limit.
  • Water/Fuel Stops & Medical Care
    The 1st Half Marathon includes 6 water stops where you can find water, UCAN Berry Hydrate electrolyte drink, medical, and toilets. Water Stop 5 includes GU energy chews.

  • Runner Shuttle Schedule
    FREE Runner Shuttle Busing pick up runners from 8:00AM – 11:00AM from Fulton St. and 10th St. at the 1st Half Marathon Finish Line in Golden Gate park. Runner shuttles drop off runners at the Main Finish Line Festival. Shuttles are for runners only. All you need is your bib to enter.
  • Perks & Benefits
    All participants receive a technical fabric long-sleeved shirt. View sizing info here. Finishers receive a finisher’s medal, free photos, electronic finisher’s certificate, and individual care, both on and off the course and following – including food, beverage, heat sheet and medical care.
  • Awards
    Gifts will be issued to the top 3 Men and Women in the 1st Half Marathon. Once official results have been finalized, award plaques are created, personalized and mailed.
  • Scoring
    The top 3 overall Men and Women in the 1st Half Marathon will receive a plaque and winners medal. The top three females and top three males in each age group will be given a personalized plaque. Results will be finalized 4-6 weeks post event and then age group awards will be personalized and mailed. Top 3 overall winners will be removed from age group awards (no double dipping).
