The San Francisco Full Marathon – Sunday, July 31st 2016

Race Start: 5:30AM @ Mission Street and The Embarcadero San Francisco, California 94105

Race Finish: Main Marathon Finish Line @ Folsom Street and The Embarcadero, San Francisco, California 94105

Run the Golden Gate Bridge, past iconic landmarks, and through historic neighborhoods: Runners race through San Francisco in a loop.

Course Certification: The Full Marathon course is USATF certified and a Boston Marathon and Olympic Time Trials qualifying race.

Race Distance: 26.2 Miles

Picture yourself racing on the roadbed of the Golden Gate Bridge as the California sun breaks through San Francisco’s iconic maritime fog. Bursting from the Embarcadero’s waterfront start line at the break of dawn. Racing through towering eucalyptus and redwood trees in Golden Gate Park. Passing AT&T Park with its atmosphere of game day anticipation and the crack of the bat.

In our 39th year, join 26,000 runners to take on our 26.2 mile loop USATF certified course (we’re also a Boston Marathon Qualifier and Olympic Team Time Trials Qualifier race) and take yourself on a running tour of San Francisco.

    • Wave 7 – 6:22 am
    • Wave 8 – 6:32 am

    On Race Morning, all Full Marathon runners must enter their designated wave from Southbound Embarcadero at the following intersections:

    Wave 1: Mission St.
    Wave 2, 3, 4: Howard St.
    Wave 5, 6: Folsom St.
    Wave 7, 8: Harrison St.

  • Course Limits
    In order to qualify as an Official Full Marathon Finisher, you must finish within the 6 hour course limit.
  • Water Stops
    The Full Marathon includes 16 water stops where you can find water, electrolyte, medical, and toilets. Two of these stops, water stop 3 and 10, includes GU.
  • Elevation

    All participants receive a technical fabric long-sleeved shirt. Finishers receive a finisher’s medal, free photos, electronic finisher’s certificate, and individual care, both on and off the course and following – including food, beverage, heat sheet and medical care.

  • Awards
    Gifts will be issued to the top 3 Men and Women in the Full Marathon. Once official results have been finalized, award plaques are created, personalized and mailed.
  • Scoring
    The top 3 overall Men and Women in the full marathon will receive a plaque and winners medal. The top three females and top three males in each age group will be given a personalized plaque. Results will be finalized 4-6 weeks post event and then age group awards will be personalized and mailed. Top 3 overall winners will be removed from age group awards (no double dipping).

    Open, Masters and Age Groups: 19 and Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+
