#RunningHome Updated: There Has Been a Route Change for Mike Wardian’s Journey Across the US!

A run across the whole of the United States is a difficult affair to plan to say the least and it’s to be expected that some plans may have to change. That is the case for the June 5 through June 11 portion of Mike’s planned route.

Those who are planning to join and support Mike during this time should consult the updated route. The route change affects the segment between Ottawa, KS and St. Louis, IL. The new route follows the Katy Trail over the Katy Trail Windsor Trailhead and then runs along the Missouri River. The change has been done due to concerns for Mike’s safety; the new route should be softer, offer more shade, and be safer overall.

The best way to follow Mike in real-time has also been updated; a new tracking has been set up using Garmin. New segments have been updated and highlighted in blue in the spreadsheet planner Mike and the crew use.

Mike will get back on his originally planned route on June 12 in St. Louis. He and the crew hope everybody in the Kansas City and St. Louis area will still be able to come out and run with Mike during this segment. Anyone else who wishes to join Mike on his run, please email Phil Hargis at hargis.phil@gmail.com.
